Your life experiences can make a difference

“The word mentoring can be a bit daunting – especially if you haven’t had any experience with young people. Actually, most of what we do is listen and it is surprisingly rewarding.”  Peter, mentor.

 

* Mentors are in high demand.

* Mentoring takes place in schools around

  the Hunter / Upper Hunter and the Central  

   Coast.

* Mentors can choose their preferred  

  location from participating high schools in

   the Hunter /Central Coast area.

Mentor Training Sessions

 

  • Training is free.
  • It is important preparation for the mentoring role.
  • Great support, friendly atmosphere.
  • No exams!

 

Mentor training is held at venues around the Hunter, Upper Hunter, Central Coast and Lake Macquarie areas. Please enquire.

Great news…David Mason, a Plan-it Youth student at Swansea delivered a fabulous speech to the Year 11 students and staff and was voted in as School Captain.

Congratulations to all involved…and especially David.  These student achievements give everyone a boost!

Congratulations to Ron McLachlan who was nominated by Tomaree Education Centre and received a NSW Public School Award Education Week Award (Hunter Central Coast Region).

The award is for ‘Outstanding Contribution by a School Community Member’ and ‘in recognition of his outstanding commitment as a Plan-it Youth mentor and ESL tutor at Tomaree'.

Jade Aston ( pictured) from Morisset High School won the Vocational Education and Training Excellence Award in Primary Industries.

 

“My mentor and Plan-it Youth really helped me by talking to me about what I enjoy and that helped decide what my interests in work were. It helped me with my career choices - so much I wanted to be in Plan-it Youth again!” Jade

At a recent gathering of mentors, Plan-it Youth student Samantha spoke about her experience with Plan-it Youth. Samantha was supported by a mentor in Year 9.

Twenty-one mentors from the Hunter travelled to Wagga Wagga for the fourth annual conference of NSW Active Retirees and Mentors.

“When you hear others’ ideas, it makes you think about the way you do things and how you can learn and improve.” Jill.
